Overview

The basic functionality of this app was for a clinic to track and manage their patients. A user would sign in and be able to add a patient that they have just seen, and then at a time of their choosing they could have a reminder to follow up with the patient. Not only did it make it easier for clinicians to keep track of follow-ups, all the information and patient notes would be accessible to them. The app would also record sales, allowing invoicing and receipts to be managed.

Design

I tried to make it a sleek design by taking some inspiration from other CRMs like Salesforce. The app was made using Dash in Python, and Bootstrap was used to give it a modern UI. The hashing and encryption was done with the cryptography package. The encryption keys were stored with password protection in a pickle file. SQL was used to manage client information and do checks. The app had the capability to import clients and pricing schemes through a .csv file.

Results

The project taught me the basics of security by using a user encryption key to hide sensitive data and hashing to store passwords. This was one of the first big projects that I used GitHub for; I tracked issues and maintained version control. I also improved my UI/UX design skills by building a Python app for a customer and getting feedback on the design. I tried to deploy the app onto AWS but was not successful, and in the days before LLMs, troubleshooting was a slow task. Unfortunately the project was never used, and it was abandoned during my undergrad.
